Date Night: 5 Cool Spots In Murray Hill
Let’s be honest: finding a bar in New York City is far from a needle-in-a-haystack. They’re everywhere! The tough part, though, is finding the right place for the right occasion. That’s where we come in! Whether you’re looking for an intimate wine bar, a trendy cocktail bar or you’re alcohol-free, these Manhattan date spots will not disappoint. Cheers to that!
THE CLASSY DATE
[3rd Ave between 40th and 41st] If you’re searching for a good tequila bar in Murray Hill, this is your place. Set in the basement of Zengo, this artsy bar is decorated with black painted walls, antique rugs and comfy leather couches. The best time to visit is for their happy hour specials [$8 cocktails! $4 beers! 2 for $5 tacos!], but you can also dance the night away to a live DJ on Saturdays or attend $15 a person tequila tastings on Tuesdays! While a bit pricey, this trendy and upscale library has awesome guacamole, super sweet sangria and excellent specialty tequila drinks.
THE TRENDY DATE
[3rd Ave between 30th and 31st] Want to party with Derek Jeter? Well, we can’t promise you that. But we can promise you a fun and trendy scene at Derek Jeter’s Mexican restaurant and tequila bar, Teqa. We’d recommend visiting this attractive and polished bar for happy hour, as they have really awesome specials and super yummy guac!
Waterfront Ale House
THE CASUAL DATE
[2nd Ave between 29th and 30th] Don’t let the name fool you. There’s no waterfront. There are no views of the water. With that being said, this local neighborhood saloon is all about the comforting, down-home atmosphere. While this may not be the place to get intimate and impress your future S.O., you can still cozy up at this old-school dive bar. The best part about the ale house? Free popcorn and house made Grandma’s Apple Pie Vodka! The All-American pub has a pretty decent craft beer selection and live music on the first Friday of every month!
THE INTIMATE DATE
[33rd St between Lex and 3rd] Looking to impress your date with a charming, moody gem with a speakeasy atmosphere? Middle Branch is it. This two-story townhouse has a ground level with communal tables and an upper level with cozy leather seats to get intimate. Oh, and the $12 cocktails are both tasty and beautiful. What more could you ask for?!
THE COFFEE DATE
[37th St between Lex and 3rd] When you think of Murray Hill, the last thing that comes to mind is a quaint, cozy coffee shop. Perk is so cute, it’s almost out of place in Midtown! They offer Stumptown coffee and a super yummy selection of herbal teas. This independent coffee shop is charming, light, sunny and small, but spacious. It’s a great spot to sit, sip, and chat!
