Sugar Fix: 8 Sweet Candy Shops Around Town

Okay, okay. We know that sugar is the enemy… especially with the anti-sugar craze going on right now. But for those once-in-a-while times, we’re here to help you satisfy your sweet tooth. And it’s not with ice cream or cake, but rather with shelves and shelves of candy! Since NYC is home to some of the sweetest [pun intended] candy shops in the world, we’ve found 8 that’ll make you feel like a kid in a candy store — literally!

Handsome Dans

East Village [1st Ave between 11th & 12th]

This adorable little spot has traditional favorites like licorice, nerds and chocolate rocks, but they also have a fab selection of gourmet chocolate bars AND a really tasty snocone bar.

Dylan’s Candy Bar

Upper East Side [3rd Ave between 60th & 61st]

You can find everything from M&Ms and jelly beans to colorful lollipops and novelty pez dispensers at this massive UES candy department store.

The Sweet Life

Lower East Side [Hester St between Ludlow & Essex]

The Sweet Life has a large selection of gourmet chocolate, plus every type of candy under the sun. We’re especially keen on their gummy selection.

Sweet Life

NoLita [Broome between Mulberry & Mott]

You will not find KitKats or Twizzlers at Papabubble. Instead, this artisanal store has a fun and unique selection of hand pulled candies that are made in-house. Prepare for jars and jars of colorful goodness.

West Village [Christopher St between Bleecker & West 4th]

This Swedish candy shop is known for its unique selection of Scandinavian sweets pristinely organized into clear boxes. And it’s home to NYC’s best selection of licorice.

Stieber’s Sweet Shoppe

West Village [Bleecker St between 6th Ave & MacDougal St]

Any place that carries 400 types of bulk candy is a store we want to be in. With over 114 varieties of gummies, chocolate-covered candies, caramels and gumballs organized neatly in clear tubes, the newest candy store on the block is a definitely must-visit. Oh, and don’t forget to stop in come Fall — Stieber’s will be experimenting with caramel apples and hot cocoa in-shop!

The Sugar Suite at the Sugar Factory

Meatpacking [Gansevoort St between 9th Ave & Washington St]

The original Sugar Factory may be in Las Vegas [and a favorite among celebs], but NYC’s Sugar Factory Brasserie has a little alcove off the restaurant called The Sugar Suite where you can fill buckets of your fave sugary snacks.

The Sugar Suite at the Sugar Factory

London Candy Co.

West Village [Bleecker St between Cornelia St & Jones St]

This British-inspired store is where you can find English classics like Rowntree’s Wine Gum, Cadbury Double Decker bars and Jelly Babies.
