8 Life-Changing Beauty Secrets For Frizz-Free Hair
by Lauren Thompson
There is nothing more frustrating than frizzy hair. And unfortunately, then end of summer does not mark the end of frizzy locks. By nature, naturally curly hair is on the dry side and craves moisture. Unlike Beyonce, many of us don’t “wake up like this.” Some brands are working to change that. Take Casper Sleep, for example. They’re working to make a comfortable, cool mattress that gets rid of Bed Head! But in the meantime, here are some beauty secrets to make your hair silky smooth while controlling frizz and taming those tangles.
Kerastase Discipline Treatment: This is a brand new anti-frizz treatment by Kerastase and it is AMAZING! It doesn’t make your hair straight the way a Keratin or Cezanne Treatment would. Instead, it smooths, conditions and makes the frizz much more manageable. The products on their own are also fantastic and definitely worth the splurge. Trust us, they’re absolutely worth every penny! Our favorites include:
Murray’s CocoSoft Coconut Oil, $6 :Coconut oil is a great way to naturally condition dry hair and control frizz. You can also pick up a jar from your local grocery store!
John Masters Argan Oil, $35: Argan oil gives your hair a little extra conditioning over night. Apply a quarter-sized amount to the ends of your hair before bedtime.
Braids: For an easy way to style your hair overnight while giving your hair a break from heat styling, try braiding those tresses. Apply coconut, argan or moroccan oil to your hair when it’s damp and braid it into pigtail braids before going to sleep. When you wake up, untie your hair for a nice, beachy wave that’s silky smooth.
Silk Pillowcase, $35: Sleeping on a silk pillow is a surprising way to keep hair from tangling, matting and creasing. It’s better than sleeping on the alternative because cotton absorbs moisture and dries out your hair and skin.
Scrunchies, $8: If you’re trying to save your blowout [or save time by doing your hair the night before], sleep with your hair in a ballerina bun on the top your head, secured by a scrunchie. These hair ties don’t crease your hair the way an elastic band would, so you’ll wake up with a pretty ‘do.
Oribe Signature Moisture Masque, $59: Remember how we said curly hair is naturally on the dry side? That means you’ll need some extra heavy conditioning. Try a nice, moisturizing conditioning mask or leave-in conditioner on your hair overnight. You can try the Kerastase Maskertine, Oribe Signature Moisture Masque, Living Proof No Frizz Leave-In Conditioner or anything that is especially made for moisture. When you put in the mask, clip your hair to the top of your head with a claw clip and cover it with a plastic shower cap [or your can forgo the cap and cover your pillow with a towel].
Mason Pearson Brush, $105: Mason Pearson brushes are the best for detangling, especially if you have fine hair that gets knotted after sleeping on it. The bristles work to distribute oils throughout the hair while exfoliating the scalp and stimulating the hair follicles to promote hair growth. Confused about what brushes to buy for your hair type?
